Man Utd’s Desperate Bid for Brentford Striker Bryan Mbeumo

In a shocking turn of events, Manchester United has submitted an improved bid of over £60m for Brentford striker Bryan Mbeumo. Because, you know, £45m plus up to £10m in add-ons wasn’t enough to seal the deal.

Talks are set to continue this week, and I’m sure it’ll be a thrilling discussion about how much more money United needs to throw at Brentford to get Mbeumo.  Meanwhile, Thomas Frank, the new Tottenham manager, is still pining for his former player, and other Champions League clubs are sniffing around.

Brentford, being the savvy club they are, wants at least the same fee as Wolves received for Matheus Cunha (£62.5m). Fair enough, considering Mbeumo still has a year left on his contract.

Mbeumo’s Premier League experience is apparently a major plus for Amorim’s squad, which is code for “we need someone who can actually do something on the pitch.” He’s a decent player, scoring 20 goals last season and contributing 9 assists, but he’ll be out for four weeks due to Cameroon’s Africa Cup of Nations participation.

And in related news, Alejandro Garnacho’s future is still uncertain after posting a picture of himself in an Aston Villa shirt with “Rashford” on it. Marcus Rashford responded with a “my brother” message, because, well, drama.

Let’s see how this all plays out. Will Mbeumo join United? Will Garnacho find a new shirt to wear?
