A quiet neighborhood in Western Triangle, Highfield, was shaken last Thursday by a chilling family tragedy when a 25-year-old woman allegedly stabbed her 15-year-old sister during a heated argument inside their home. The younger sister sustained multiple knife wounds and is currently recovering, while the community reels from the shocking incident.
According to prosecutor Mr. Ngoni Kaseke, the violent altercation occurred around 3:50 pm. The two sisters reportedly engaged in a fierce argument that escalated quickly. In a moment of rage, Noriet Muchingami allegedly grabbed a knife and stabbed her younger sister three times — once on the right finger, once near the right ear, and once on the back.
Despite her injuries, the 15-year-old managed to summon the strength to report the attack to the police, leading to the immediate arrest of Noriet Muchingami. The teenager is now receiving medical care for multiple cuts sustained during the attack.
Noriet Muchingami appeared before Harare Regional Magistrate Mr. Donald Ndirowei on Saturday, facing attempted murder charges. She was not asked to plead during this initial hearing and has been remanded in custody. A bail hearing is scheduled for Monday, as the case continues to draw significant public attention.
The violent family dispute has left neighbors and residents of Highfield stunned. “We’re still in disbelief. Sisters fight, yes — but this? This is heartbreaking,” said a neighbor who wished to remain anonymous. The incident has sparked conversations about family tensions and the urgent need for community support to prevent such tragedies.
As the investigation unfolds, many are hoping for justice and healing for the family caught in this painful ordeal.
