A man who called himself a prophet, Clever Givemore Mujeyi (37), from Gokwe, has been found guilty and jailed by the Gokwe Magistrates’ Court. He was convicted of having sex with a 16-year-old girl on several occasions.

According to the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA), in November 2025, Mujeyi made romantic advances towards the girl at her home in Chief Nemangwe, Gokwe South District, Midlands Province. They then had unprotected sex.

The two subsequently moved to Hwedza and started living together as if they were married.

On 7th December 2025, they had sex again in Battlefields. The situation came to light after Mujeyi abandoned the young girl in Battlefields and ran off with the wife of one of his church members.

He was given a total prison sentence of six years. One year of this sentence was suspended for five years, meaning he will actually spend five years in jail.

The NPA said Mujeyi acted unlawfully by luring and having sex with a child, stressing that any claim of “consent” or a promise of marriage does not make such actions legal.
