Kombi Driver Alleges Brutal Assault by Employer

A kombi driver, Saini Mwogeni, claims he was brutally assaulted by his employer, Fortune Mbizo, over a dispute about cashing fares. According to Saini, Mbizo used a cigarette lighter to burn his hands after accusing him of pocketing some of the money.

Saini alleges that Mbizo locked him in a room and tortured him with the cigarette lighter, boasting about his connections to police officers and threatening to deal with Saini and his family. However, Mbizo denies the allegations, claiming Saini traveled to Guruve without his consent and doesn’t have driving particulars.

Mbizo described Saini’s allegations as false, saying he’s surprised Saini is trying to fix him. But Saini has lodged a police report at Epworth Police Station, determined to seek justice for the alleged assault.

This incident raises concerns about employer-employee relationships and the treatment of workers in the informal sector. Will Saini get the justice he seeks, or will Mbizo’s alleged connections protect him? The outcome of this case will be closely watched.
