**Government Launches Provincial Hotlines for Reporting Potholes and Road Defects**

The Ministry of Transport and Infrastructural Development has introduced dedicated provincial hotlines to allow members of the public to report potholes and other serious road defects directly to authorities for swift action.

In a statement released on Monday, January 19, 2026, the ministry urged road users to promptly report defects requiring urgent attention to Provincial Roads Engineers in their respective areas. The move is part of Government’s broader efforts to improve road safety and maintain the national road network.

The ministry said it remains committed to providing safe, reliable and well-maintained roads, noting that ongoing investment in road rehabilitation and maintenance is central to its mandate. Members of the public were encouraged to become active partners in road maintenance by reporting potholes and other hazards before they worsen.

According to the ministry, timely reporting allows for faster response times, better use of resources and helps prevent minor road defects from developing into major safety risks. The initiative aligns with the Government’s inclusive development agenda of leaving no one and no place behind.

To ensure rapid intervention, the ministry has set up hotlines in every province, with residents advised to contact their Provincial Roads Engineer directly. For effective response, road users are encouraged to provide clear photographs or videos and accurate location details when reporting defects.

In Bulawayo Metropolitan Province, the Provincial Roads Engineer is Eng. T. Nyikayaramba, who can be contacted on 0716 389 676. Harare Metropolitan Province is served by Eng. A. Muchena on 0772 351 730. In Manicaland Province, reports can be made to Eng. R. Sigauke on 0784 355 892.

Mashonaland Central Province’s Provincial Roads Engineer is Eng. J. Makokove, reachable on 0712 883 069, while Mashonaland East Province is served by Eng. M. T. Pasipamire on 0776 951 956. In Mashonaland West Province, Eng. S. Gomo can be contacted on 0735 721 521.

Masvingo Province residents can report road defects to Eng. A. Chigwereve on 0775 305 294. In Matabeleland North Province, the Provincial Roads Engineer is Eng. X. Ncube on 0712 883 052, while Matabeleland South Province is served by Eng. M. Nkomo on 0783 499 271. Midlands Province residents can contact Eng. S. Kamutema on 0776 992 634.

The ministry encouraged the public to use the hotlines responsibly and to continue working with authorities to improve road safety across the country.
