“Fake Cloxacillin Capsules on the Loose” Medicines Control Authority of Zimbabwe (MCAZ) Warns

In a thrilling development that’s sure to keep you on the edge of your seat, the Medicines Control Authority of Zimbabwe (MCAZ) has issued a warning about counterfeit Cloxacillin capsules floating around the market.

The fake capsules, masquerading as the real deal from Varichem Pharmaceuticals, can be identified by their brown labels with sharp corners  and a glaring lack of markings. Oh, and let’s not forget the pièce de résistance: no aluminium foil seal. Genuine capsules, on the other hand, come with stylish orange labels and actual markings. Go figure.

MCAZ has graciously identified Gartas Investments as one of the sources of these lovely counterfeit capsules. How thoughtful of them! Pharmacies, clinics, wholesalers, and hospitals are urged to quarantine these bad boys ASAP and surrender them by August 1.

Using these fake antibiotics might lead to treatment failure, side effects, and a dash of antimicrobial resistance. MCAZ is working with law enforcement to track down the culprits, because someone’s gotta save the day.

And let’s not forget the stern warning to healthcare professionals: mess with fake meds, and you’ll face regulatory action. Lose your license, and you’ll be the one needing antibiotics for your wounded pride.
