Bulawayo Legislator Raises Concerns Over Mpilo School of Nursing Selection Process

Bulawayo Legislator Raises Concerns Over Mpilo School of Nursing Selection Process

Thokozani Khupe, a Bulawayo legislator, has expressed concerns about the alleged lack of transparency and fairness in the selection of students at Mpilo School of Nursing. During a recent debate in the National Assembly, Khupe noted that many prospective students with good academic qualifications were not being called for interviews, raising questions about the selection criteria.

Khupe emphasized the need for inclusivity and regional balance in the selection process, suggesting that as a public institution, Mpilo School of Nursing should prioritize students from Bulawayo and surrounding areas. She requested a ministerial statement from the Health and Child Care minister to provide clarity on the selection process.

The Speaker of the National Assembly, Jacob Mudenda, has agreed to Khupe’s request, stating that the Health and Child Care minister will be asked to make a national statement on the matter. The controversy surrounding the selection process has sparked interest among students and community members, who are eagerly awaiting clarity on the issue.
