Armed Robbery at EMA Offices in Harare

 

Four masked robbers stormed the Environmental Management Authority (EMA) offices in Bluffhill, Harare, leaving a trail of disruption and concern about security protocols. The suspects overpowered two Real Star security guards, tying them up with shoelaces before ransacking the offices. The brazen daylight robbery has raised questions about the effectiveness of the security measures in place.

The robbers made off with US$2,212 in cash and a Nissan X-Trail valued at US$14,000 belonging to an employee. However, the vehicle was later recovered by police near the Kuwadzana Roundabout, a testament to the swift response of law enforcement. This recovery is a positive note in an otherwise concerning incident.

Harare provincial police spokesperson Inspector Luckmore Chakanza confirmed the incident and stated that investigations are ongoing. The police are working tirelessly to identify and apprehend the suspects, reviewing CCTV footage and gathering evidence. The authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward and assist with the investigation, emphasizing the importance of community cooperation in solving crimes.
