Armed Robbery at EMA Offices in Harare

Armed Robbery at EMA Offices in Harare

Four masked robbers stormed the Environmental Management Authority (EMA) offices in Bluffhill, Harare, leaving a trail of disruption and concern about security protocols. The suspects overpowered two Real Star security guards, tying them up with shoelaces before ransacking the offices. The brazen daylight robbery has raised questions about the effectiveness of the security measures in place.

The robbers made off with US$2,212 in cash and a Nissan X-Trail valued at US$14,000 belonging to an employee. However, the vehicle was later recovered by police near the Kuwadzana Roundabout, a testament to the swift response of law enforcement. This recovery is a positive note in an otherwise concerning incident.

Harare provincial police spokesperson Inspector Luckmore Chakanza confirmed the incident and stated that investigations are ongoing. The police are working tirelessly to identify and apprehend the suspects, reviewing CCTV footage and gathering evidence. The authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward and assist with the investigation, emphasizing the importance of community cooperation in solving crimes.

The EMA offices were targeted in this incident, highlighting the need for robust security protocols. Regular security audits and personnel training are crucial for effective security measures. The community is encouraged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the authorities.

The police investigation is ongoing, with officers working diligently to bring the perpetrators to justice. The case serves as a reminder of the importance of security and vigilance in preventing crime. Anyone with information is urged to contact the police immediately to assist with the investigation.
