Ms Chantelle Shangare, Founder and Managing Director of Mother’s of Special Heroes (MOSH), is dedicated to empowering mothers and caregivers of children with Neurodevelopmental conditions like Autism and other Neurodiverse conditions. Her organization has grown into a multi-award-winning community project, impacting lives through skills training, awareness programs, and support initiatives.
Ms Shangare’s life took a dramatic turn when her twin son fell into a bucket of water, leaving him with Cerebral Palsy. Navigating Zimbabwe’s limited resources and societal stigma was daunting, but her determination inspired her to start a community for Special Heroes, supporting caregivers and advocating for Neurodiverse individuals.
MOSH has persevered despite facing challenges like stigma, lack of support, and limited access to resources. One beneficiary, a non-verbal autistic teen, discovered a talent for painting, brightening homes and hearts. MOSH’s work is a beacon of hope for a more inclusive Zimbabwe .
Ms Shangare is eager to partner with like-minded individuals and organizations to create a more inclusive Zimbabwe. MOSH’s story is one of resilience, hope, and triumph, reminding us that everyone deserves respect, support, and equal opportunities to thrive .
