Mhondoro Mubaira Resident’s Home Razed Over Unpaid Taxes

A shocking incident has rocked Ward 1 of Mhondoro Mubaira, where local authorities demolished a family’s home and detained the owner over alleged unpaid taxes. Chief Nherera, alongside Sabhuku Panashe Manomano and armed enforcers, reportedly chained Charles Samhu, forced him to witness the destruction of his one-roomed house, kitchen, and food supplies ,including bags of maize. The family’s belongings were destroyed, and Samhu was evicted from the ward. His current location remains unknown.

A distressed community member shared audio and text evidence of the ordeal, sparking outrage. “This is not justice it’s tyranny,” the source said. Efforts to reach Chief Nherera for comment are ongoing. The Citizens Movement Radio first reported the incident, calling for accountability.

The act raises urgent questions about traditional leadership’s role in enforcing tax collection and protecting human rights in Zimbabwe’s rural areas. Authorities must clarify the legality of these actions. The community demands answers , Where is Charles Samhu? Will justice follow?
