Lawyer Warns Against Commenting on Criminal Charges

Prominent lawyer Advocate Fadzayi Mahere has cautioned the public about the risks of speaking out while facing criminal charges, citing the case of Prophet Walter Magaya as an example. Mahere’s warning comes after a newspaper published a private message allegedly from Magaya, who is currently in custody, discussing his legal ordeal in spiritual terms.

Mahere took to social media to advise individuals facing criminal charges to remain silent, even in private conversations. She emphasized that any statements made could be used as evidence in court, highlighting the importance of letting lawyers handle the case.

According to Mahere, commenting on charges can have severe consequences, potentially harming one’s defense. She stressed that lawyers are trained to handle such situations and should be allowed to do their job without interference.
