Harare Businesswoman on the Run: Warrant of Arrest Issued Over Alleged Fraud

A Harare businesswoman, Lilian Nyamasoka, has been issued with a warrant of arrest after failing to appear in court on allegations of defrauding two Chinese investors. Nyamasoka, who is also the managing director of Shawashi Agri Private Limited, is accused of swindling the investors out of thousands of dollars.

The allegations against Nyamasoka include failing to deliver 12,600 kilograms of Cutrag tobacco to Xingzhogi Enterprises, a duly registered company, after receiving payment of US$74,322.36. In another incident, Nyamasoka allegedly misrepresented her ability to process a work permit for Wang You, a Chinese national, and collected US$1,500 for the service, which she failed to provide.

Nyamasoka was expected to appear before magistrate Appollonia Marutya to face fraud charges, but her absence led to the issuance of a warrant of arrest. The court will likely proceed with the case once Nyamasoka is apprehended and brought to court.

As the managing director of Shawashi Agri Private Limited, Nyamasoka’s alleged actions have potentially tarnished the company’s reputation. The outcome of the case will determine the fate of the company and its stakeholders.

The police will likely work to apprehend Nyamasoka and bring her to court to face the allegations. The case will proceed once she is in custody, and the court will determine her guilt or innocence based on the evidence presented.
