Blessed Bowa’s 12-Year Gift for Being a ‘Good Samaritan’ Thief

In a shocking turn of events, Blessed Bowa, a 26-year-old man from Domboshava, has been sentenced to 12 years in prison for robbing a couple at gunpoint and stealing their brand new Toyota Corolla on New Year’s Eve. Because who needs a resolution to quit crime when you can just get caught and serve time?

The drama unfolded on December 31, 2024, when Bowa and his accomplices stormed into the victims’ homestead, demanding the car keys and registration papers for the shiny new Toyota Corolla the couple had purchased just hours before for a whopping US$2,000. The victims, understandably shaken, handed over the goods, fearing for their lives. The robbers made off with the vehicle, and it was only later that the victim realized his wallet, containing US$357, ID, driver’s license, and other important cards, had also been swiped.

In a bizarre twist, Bowa attempted to play Good Samaritan, contacting the victim on March 1, 2025, to inquire about a machete that had been left in the car. He casually mentioned he had come across the victim’s wallet, trying to act all concerned and innocent. However, the victim wasn’t buying it and reported the suspicious contact to the authorities.

The police were hot on Bowa’s heels and eventually tracked down the stolen vehicle on March 20 at Zimbiru Business Centre. Bowa fled the scene but was eventually apprehended. The court handed him a 12-year sentence, with 2 years suspended on condition he behaves and 5 months suspended if he pays restitution to the victims. The court also ordered that the stolen vehicle be returned to its rightful owners.

Bowa’s accomplices are still at large, but the law is closing in. The police are working tirelessly to track them down and bring them to justice. It’s a reminder that crime doesn’t pay, unless you’re counting the years in prison. Bowa’s attempt to play hero ultimately led to his downfall. Who knew being a Good Samaritan could be so… costly?
