Zero Tolerance for Zero Percent-Teachers in the Hot Seat

The Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education is cracking the whip in Bulilima District, Matabeleland South province. Teachers who have consistently delivered zero percent pass rates over the past five years are facing the music, with incompetence charges looming large.

Subjects like Heritage Studies, Geography, Combined Science, and Mathematics have been particularly problematic, with over 15 teachers from various schools struggling to inspire their students. The District Schools Inspector, Mr. Gobile Gobile, has had enough and is demanding answers.

In a strongly-worded circular, Mr. Gobile warned that any teacher recording zero percent pass rates this year will face disciplinary action, potentially leading to dismissal. The message is clear: shape up or ship out.

Several schools have been identified as needing urgent attention, including Zenzele, Ntunungwe, Mzwanyana, and others. Heads of these schools are tasked with scrutinizing pupil answer scripts and providing detailed reports to support the quest for improved performance.
