The wheels are in motion for a new batch of members to join the Zanu PF Central Committee, with prominent businessman Kudakwashe Tagwirei among the nominees. The party’s constitution requires that co-opted members be ratified by the Central Committee, and this crucial step is expected to take place at the party’s next meeting.
According to Zanu PF Director of Information and Publicity, Farai Marapira, the deferral of the ratification agenda is a mere procedural matter. “The Central Committee has to ratify those cadres first before they assume membership in the Central Committee,” he explained. The party is taking a national approach to the ratification process, allowing all provinces to present their co-opted members.
Kudakwashe Tagwirei, the founder and CEO of Sakunda Holdings Group, is no stranger to the business world. With interests in energy, mining, transport, construction, and agriculture, Tagwirei has built a business empire that plays a significant role in Zimbabwe’s economy. His nomination to the Central Committee is seen as a testament to his influence and contributions to the country.
The next Central Committee meeting is expected to finalize the ratification of the newly nominated members, paving the way for their formal integration into the party’s leadership structure. As the party prepares to welcome new faces, one thing is certain – the future of Zanu PF is about to take shape.
