The Great Bond Paper Heist: A Tale of Cash and Deceit

In a shocking turn of events, Tawanda Manzvinde, a cashier at N-Richards Wholesalers in Rusape, has allegedly pulled off the heist of the century – stealing a whopping US$35,250 in cash and replacing it with neatly cut bond paper. Because who needs actual cash when you have  art of cutting  paper?

Manzvinde, a 34-year-old cashier, was entrusted with collecting cash from till operators and handing it over to Fawcett Security Company for safekeeping. But instead of doing his job, he allegedly filled the cash box with cut bond paper, sealed it, and surrendered it to the security company, which accepted it without verifying its contents. Genius, right?

According to sources, Manzvinde repeated the same tactic from April 17 to 21, 2025, collecting an additional US$22,033 from till operators and keeping it for himself. The security company remained clueless, accepting the cash boxes without checking their contents. It’s like they say: “you can’t trust anyone with your money, not even the security company.”

When Manzvinde failed to report for work on April 22, 2025, his boss, Mr. Mukwenha, grew suspicious and contacted his wife, who claimed she hadn’t seen him since the previous day. The game was afoot! Mukwenha then contacted Fawcett Security Company, and when they opened the sealed cash boxes, they found them filled with neatly cut bond paper instead of cash. The police were called, and an investigation was launched.

A reward of US$2,500 has been offered for information leading to Manzvinde’s arrest. The police are hot on his trail, but it remains to be seen whether they’ll catch him before he enjoys his ill-gotten gains. Will justice be served, or will Manzvinde get away with the perfect crime? Only time will tell.

How did Manzvinde manage to pull off this heist without raising any red flags? Was he a mastermind, or was it just a case of opportunistic theft? And what about the security company – didn’t they notice anything suspicious?  Why  did the  security  not verify the cash box  first before securing it? The investigation will hopefully uncover the answers to these questions and bring Manzvinde to justice.
