Sulumani Chimbetu, a popular Dendera musician, has vehemently denied rumors circulating on social media that he made romantic advances towards former First Lady Dr. Grace Mugabe. The online reports claimed Chimbetu proposed to Mugabe after a chance meeting in Mazowe and was subsequently reported for harassment at a Harare police station.
In an interview with ZimLive, Chimbetu dismissed the allegations as baseless and part of a smear campaign. “I’m just seeing the messages and posts going viral about the allegations. It’s not true. Nothing of that sort has ever happened, and these are just people trying to create content in a bad way,” he said.
Despite Chimbetu’s denial, social media platforms were flooded with memes mocking the musician after the rumors surfaced. Mugabe, who recently celebrated her 60th birthday in style, hasn’t publicly commented on the matter. There’s also no confirmation from the police regarding any such arrest.
