In a shocking turn of events, the STUHM Residents Association, representing current and former Members of Parliament, has thrown down the gauntlet to Minister Daniel Garwe, demanding answers over a land dispute that’s got everyone scratching their heads. The association claims that the land allocated to them along Shamva Road has been secretly reallocated, leaving them in limbo.

The STUHM site was initially intended as a housing scheme for legislators, a token of appreciation for their national service. Fast forward to 2019, and the government allegedly sold low-density residential stands in the area to parliamentarians for a cool US$1,942. The Permanent Secretary of the Local Government Ministry at the time, under Minister July Moyo, received, processed, and approved all applications. Lease agreements were finalized, and the parliamentarians were all set to build their dream homes.

Recent reports have emerged that the Ministry of Lands is now asserting ownership of the land, designating its own beneficiaries, and allegedly issuing title deeds to an unidentified third party. The affected parliamentarians, including high-profile figures like Temba Mliswa, Morgan Komichi, Elias Mudzuri, and Priscilla Misihayirambwi, are up in arms, arguing that these reports undermine their legitimate expectations based on formal assurances and legal instruments.

The STUHM Residents Association is demanding urgent clarification from Minister Garwe, questioning the legitimacy of the alleged reallocation. With nearly one hundred individuals affected, this dispute is shaping up to be a major controversy. Will the Minister come clean about the land deal, or will the parliamentarians be left high and dry?

As the drama unfolds, one thing is certain – this land dispute is a complex web of intrigue, with multiple stakeholders and conflicting interests. Stay tuned for more updates on this developing story!
