Manjuzu Prophet Narrates on Harrowing Account of Nyaure River tragedy

A 25-year-old self-proclaimed prophet has come under scrutiny after a tragic incident during a Manjuzi ritual at Nyaure River. According to the prophet, one woman was forcefully taken by the spirits, and his 22-year-old wife mysteriously drowned. The prophet claimed they offered rice, rapoko, biscuits, and sweets to appease the mermaid spirits, hoping to release the woman who was taken.

However, Prince Ngurube, a friend of the prophet, disputes his authenticity, describing him as an abusive man with a troubled past. Ngurube alleged that the prophet used to beat his first wife until she left, and he even provided her with money to return to her father’s house. Ngurube also claimed that the prophet later married the deceased woman.

When questioned about the prophet’s authenticity, Ngurube expressed skepticism about his friend’s practices, suggesting that they might be a mix of genuine spirituality and trickery. “There’s no true prophet who can authentically blend African culture with Christianity,” Ngurube said, implying that the prophet is likely a self-proclaimed figure.

The incident has raised concerns about the safety and legitimacy of traditional spiritual practices, and the community is still reeling from the tragic events that unfolded at Nyaure River  yesterday morning.
