South African music star Ndivhudzannyi Ralivhona, popularly known as Makhadzi, has been discharged from hospital following injuries sustained in a serious car accident on New Year’s Eve.
The award-winning singer was involved in a crash on the N1 highway on 31 December 2025 while travelling from Limpopo to Johannesburg. She was rushed to a private medical facility in Polokwane, where she received treatment for her injuries.
At the time of the accident, Makhadzi was en route to Gauteng, where she was scheduled to headline a New Year’s Eve performance.
In an emotional update shared on her Facebook page on Monday, 5 January 2026, the singer confirmed her discharge from hospital and revealed that doctors have ordered her to remain on home rest for the next 10 weeks.
She thanked fans for the overwhelming support she received during her recovery.
“To all my lovely Khadzinators, thank you for the love and support you have shown me during this difficult time,” she wrote. “Because of your concern, I felt it was important to update you on my health.”
Makhadzi said she has now returned home, where her family will continue caring for her as she recovers.
“I am now discharged from the hospital so that my family can take care of me until I get back to normal,” she said. “Due to the injuries, my doctor advised that I must stay at home for 10 weeks without performing.”
Despite the forced break from the stage, the singer remained optimistic, describing the period as an opportunity for creativity and reflection.
“I won’t be performing, but I will be in the studio doing what God saved me for,” she said, adding that she is grateful for what she described as a “second chance to breathe.”
The accident shocked fans across Africa, many of whom had been looking forward to seeing the energetic performer close off 2025 on stage. Messages of support continue to pour in as she focuses on healing and preparing for her eventual return to music.
