In a shocking display of deflection, Zanu PF spokesperson Chris Mutsvangwa has blamed Bulawayo mayor David Coltart for the city’s lack of development. Ibhetshu LikaZulu’s secretary-general, Mbuso Fuzwayo, swiftly responded to the allegations, laying bare the truth about Zanu PF’s catastrophic failures.

“Zanu PF owns this destruction – it must not now seek scapegoats among those trying to revive a broken city,” Fuzwayo said, highlighting the party’s chronic misgovernance, unchecked corruption, and contempt for regional development. The incomplete Zambezi Water Project and the collapse of the textile sector due to cheap Chinese imports are just a few examples of Zanu PF’s devastating policies.

Bulawayo’s once-thriving industries lie in ruins, leaving thousands jobless and struggling. The city’s infrastructure is crumbling, with frequent power cuts and water shortages. Fuzwayo emphasized that these are not mere opinions but facts.

“These are facts, not opinions,” he said. “Zanu PF’s policies have devastated Bulawayo, and it’s time for them to take responsibility.”

Mutsvangwa’s claims about Coltart and King Bulelani’s meeting being part of a plot to create a separate Matabeleland State are malicious and false. Fuzwayo set the record straight.

“The Ndebele Kingdom was a sovereign nation that fell to colonial invasion in 1893,” he said. “The kingdom’s legacy lives on, and its people continue to celebrate their rich cultural heritage.”

Fuzwayo also addressed the Gukurahundi genocide, a brutal campaign of violence and intimidation perpetrated by Zanu PF against the Ndebele people.

“Zanu PF’s attempts to erase this dark chapter from history will not succeed,” Fuzwayo said.

Fuzwayo emphasized that recognition of King Bulelani is not about secession but about cultural identity and heritage.

“Let it be clearly stated that King Bulelani Lobengula is the leader of the Ndebele nation – not by the permission of Chris Mutsvangwa, Zanu PF, or any contemporary political actor, but by historical rights and the lived cultural reality of the people,” Fuzwayo said.

A resident of Bulawayo echoed Fuzwayo’s sentiments, calling for Zanu PF to take responsibility for its actions.

“We’ve seen the city’s infrastructure crumble under Zanu PF’s watch,” the resident said. “It’s time for them to take responsibility for their actions.”

The people of Bulawayo deserve better. It’s time for Zanu PF to reflect on its failures and work towards a brighter future for the city.
