Hwange Man Killed by Elephant

A devastating incident occurred in Hwange when a man was trampled to death by a rogue elephant bull on his way to work at a local mining company. The victim, identified as John Munzabwa from Lusumbani Village, met his untimely demise in the horrific encounter.

Zimbabwe Parks and Wildlife Authority spokesperson Tinashe Farawo confirmed the incident, stating that game rangers have been deployed to the area to investigate. Meanwhile, police officials are yet to receive a formal report of the incident.

News of the tragedy spread quickly through a residents’ WhatsApp group, with a message expressing shock and offering condolences to Munzabwa’s family. This heartbreaking incident follows a similar case in 2023, where a security guard was fatally attacked by an elephant, highlighting the dangers of human-wildlife conflicts in the area.
