The Mthwakazi ka Mzilikazi Cultural Association (MMCA) is set to host the annual King Mzilikazi commemorations on September 5 and 6, 2025, at the King Mzilikazi Memorial Site. This year’s event promises to be a grand celebration, with a theme that highlights the importance of cultural heritage in nation-building: “Siqoqa Isizwe Ngamasiko” (We strengthen the nation through culture).

The commemorations will feature a vibrant cultural march from Matshobana suburb to Bulawayo City Hall, showcasing the rich traditions of the Ndebele people. Traditional leaders, government officials, and cultural performers will come together to celebrate King Mzilikazi’s legacy.

The event will offer a unique opportunity for attendees to experience traditional food, beer, and performances. Over 5,000 guests are expected to attend, with the guest of honor to be announced soon.

King Mzilikazi, born around 1790, founded a powerful empire that later evolved into the Ndebele people. His legacy continues to inspire and influence the region’s culture and history.
