Former Highlanders CEO Faces Community Service Over $2,000 Fraud

Brian Busani Moyo, the former Chief Executive Officer of Highlanders Football Club, has been sent for community service assessment after being found guilty of defrauding the team of $2,000 in a player transfer deal. Moyo appeared in court on Wednesday for sentencing, with the proceedings adjourned pending his assessment.

The case revolves around the transfer of two players from Bulawayo Chiefs FC to Highlanders FC in December 2024. Moyo allegedly worked with former Bulawayo Chiefs administrator Andrew Mandigora to inflate the transfer fee, resulting in a $5,000 difference that was split between the two. Moyo is accused of pocketing $2,000 from the deal.

Moyo was represented by lawyers Victor Kucherera and Thamani Ncube from Wallace Law chambers. The court is expected to reconvene once Moyo’s community service assessment is complete, likely resulting in a non-custodial sentence.

The outcome will be closely watched by the football community, with many awaiting the final verdict.
