Concerns Grow Over Health of Imprisoned Former Minister

Walter Mzembi, Zimbabwe’s former foreign minister, is reportedly struggling with serious health issues while in prison. According to a senior prison official, Mzembi’s condition has raised alarms among correctional officers. He appears weak, with visible signs of deterioration, and spends most of his time sleeping.

There are fears that Mzembi may be suffering from a severe illness, with some speculating that his previous battle with colon cancer may have recurred. However, without access to proper medical evaluation, the exact nature of his condition remains uncertain.

Mzembi has been in custody for violating bail conditions dating back seven years, and both the magistrates’ court and the High Court of Zimbabwe have denied him bail. His current health situation has sparked concern among those familiar with his case.
