AFM Pastor’s US$158K Fiasco: A Holy Heist?

In a shocking turn of events, an Apostolic Faith Mission (AFM) pastor and his wife are facing allegations of swindling a local school operator out of a whopping US$158,000 in a botched rent-to-buy deal. The accused, Titus Murefu and his wife Winnet, were remanded out of custody until July 22.

The complainant, a school operator, claimed that the Murefus misrepresented themselves as the owners of Lot 12 Glen Forest in Harare. She paid a monthly rental of US$1,500 initially, which later increased to US$3,950. When she asked to sign a rent-to-buy agreement, the Murefus became evasive.

The school operator later discovered that the land wasn’t even owned by the Murefus. She filed a police report, and the couple’s holy facade began to crumble.

Regional magistrate Clever Tsikwa remanded the Murefus out of custody, giving them until July 22 to face the music. Will they make amends or continue to play the holy card?

Will the AFM church stand by their pastor, or will they distance themselves from this scandal? Can the school operator recover their losses? And what’s next for the Murefus? Stay tuned for more updates on this juicy scandal!
