Temba Mliswa has slammed Fadzayi Mahere, former Mt Pleasant MP, for ditching her parliamentary seat and taking to social media to rant about national issues. Mliswa accuses Mahere of being a populist who prioritizes social media fame over tangible results, saying she’s more concerned with getting likes and retweets than serving her constituents.
Mahere resigned from Parliament in January 2024, citing the Sengezo Tshabangu led takeover of the CCC as the reason. But Mliswa isn’t buying it, saying she abandoned her post and left her constituents high and dry. He points out that Mahere won the Mt Pleasant seat by a landslide, but ZANU PF’s George Mashavave won the subsequent by-election by a whisker.
Mliswa’s critique is scathing, calling Mahere’s actions “weak and undependable”. He says her criticisms of President Emmerson Mnangagwa and Wicknell Chivayo are based on personal preferences rather than concrete evidence. It’s a drama-filled feud that’s left many wondering what’s next in Zimbabwe’s political circus.
