A recent visit to Harare Psychiatric Hospital revealed a heartwarming display of teamwork and compassion among staff and patients. Despite some infrastructure challenges, the hospital’s friendly environment and efficient services stood out. Patients interacted positively with visitors, including Rhodesville Police Station officers, sharing jokes and stories.
The hospital’s staff, including doctors and nurses, demonstrated empathy and kindness towards patients. Female nurses were seen hugging patients, showing love and care. The relationship between nursing staff and patients was excellent, with patients feeling comfortable expressing themselves.
While the hospital’s services were commendable, the infrastructure requires renovation and face-lifting. Broken doors, furniture, and windows need repair or replacement. Modern tiles and new furniture would also enhance the hospital’s ambiance.
The hospital’s services were efficient, with medical staff attending to patients promptly. A psychiatric doctor was seen interacting with patients in a friendly manner, creating a sense of comfort and trust. The hospital’s aerodrome received an emergency patient via helicopter, demonstrating the hospital’s commitment to saving lives.
The staff at Harare Psychiatric Hospital deserve praise for their dedication and compassion. Their love and empathy towards patients are truly commendable. As one patient said, “The environment is so good that he can stay here whilst being treated.” May God bless the staff for their selfless service.
While the hospital’s services were impressive, some patients complained about the lack of meat or chicken in their supper. Ensuring a balanced diet for patients would further enhance the hospital’s care. Overall, Harare Psychiatric Hospital’s staff and patients demonstrated a sense of community and compassion, making it a beacon of hope for those in need.
