Man Accused of Trying to Sell Dead Infant’s Body to Undergo Mental Evaluation

The court has postponed the case of Marecha, who allegedly tried to sell a dead infant’s body to a man in Harare, to July 18, pending psychiatric reports. Marecha, who remains in custody, will undergo a mental health evaluation to assess his fitness to stand trial.

According to reports, Marecha approached Blessed Paradza on July 4, claiming he was selling beef from a large black plastic bag. However, upon inspection, Paradza discovered the bag contained the lifeless body of an infant, prompting him to alert the police. The magistrate has ordered Marecha to undergo a psychiatric assessment, citing the need for a thorough evaluation of his mental state. The case will resume on July 18, after which the court will determine the next steps in the proceedings.
