Bribery and Brutality-Police Officer Accused of Fatal Assault

Bribery and Brutality-Police Officer Accused of Fatal Assault

A 39-year-old police officer, Prince Ndabambi, is facing serious allegations after allegedly assaulting a suspect to death while demanding a US$100 bribe. The incident has sparked widespread outrage, and rightly so. According to reports, Ndabambi arrested Blessed Believe Juruvenge, 30, on assault allegations, but things took a deadly turn when he demanded a bribe to release Juruvenge and his sister.

Juruvenge was accused of assaulting one Mwazha, who had allegedly tried to pay for groceries with a counterfeit US$50 note at Juruvenge’s tuckshop. Mwazha had offered to pay US$100 compensation, but instead, he filed a report against Juruvenge, accusing him of assault. Ndabambi, who was handling the case, allegedly took matters into his own hands, demanding a bribe from Juruvenge and his sister in exchange for their release.

The allegations against Ndabambi are disturbing. He allegedly assaulted Juruvenge’s sister, Melisa Manyepa, on the knees with a wooden stick, and demanded US$100 from both Juruvenge and his sister to release them. When they couldn’t pay, Ndabambi allegedly assaulted Juruvenge with a wooden stick all over his body, leaving him unconscious.

Ndabambi demanded US$100 from Juruvenge and his sister to release them, and another US$100 to stop the assault.
He instructed Manyepa to call their relatives to raise the money, but they couldn’t.
Ndabambi only stopped assaulting Juruvenge when he became unconscious.

Juruvenge was later taken to Ruwa Rehabilitation Centre, where he died in the morning of May 28. The incident has raised serious concerns about police brutality and corruption, and Ndabambi’s actions are being widely condemned.

The people deserve better from their law enforcement, and it’s time for accountability. Ndabambi’s alleged actions are a stark reminder of the dangers of unchecked power and the need for reform. Let’s hope justice is served, and Ndabambi faces the consequences of his alleged actions. The outcome of this case will be closely watched, and it’s essential that the truth is uncovered and justice is served.
