The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has made quite the impressive bust at RGMI Airport, catching two foreign nationals arriving from Thailand with a stash of goodies. And by goodies, I mean a whopping four monarch suitcases full of “souvenirs” they probably thought they’d get away with.

Let’s break it down: one monarch suitcase was packed with 18.5 kilograms of loose skunk. Because who doesn’t love a good surprise in their luggage? The ZRP didn’t specify what the other three suitcases contained, but I’m sure it was just a bunch of innocent souvenirs.

In a completely unrelated incident (or so it seems), the police in Bulawayo decided to get creative and intercepted a Toyota Quantum kombi at Esigodini Tollgate. And what did they find? A stash of 100 x 100mls Broncleer Cough Syrup. Because, you know, that’s exactly what you want to be trafficking – cough syrup. The suspects, Dennis Ndlovu and Edward Phiri, are now facing charges for unlawful possession. I’m sure they’ll be coughing up a lot of bail money.

All in all, kudos to the ZRP for keeping Zimbabwe safe from the dangers of loose skunk and cough syrup. We can all sleep a little better tonight knowing that these heroes are on the job.
