
The ruling ZANU PF party has claimed three local authority seats without a fight ahead of the by-elections set for Saturday, July 26, 2025. The party’s candidates, Fibian Muzire, Katinos Mudadi, and Tichaona Muskwe, have been declared winners in Gutu Rural District Council’s Wards 10 and 14, and Mazowe Rural District Council’s Ward 19, respectively.
Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) deputy chairperson Rodney Kiwa confirmed the development during a press briefing in Harare on Thursday. Kiwa announced the winning candidates, noting
that the Nomination Court for the respective wards sat on June 26, 2025.
Meanwhile, ZEC has confirmed that by-elections will go ahead in three other wards: Ward 10 of Chikomba Rural District Council, Ward 4 of Chiredzi Rural District Council, and Ward 6 of Marondera Rural District Council. The electoral process is set to proceed as scheduled in these areas.
