Two Young Lives Lost in Devastating Fire

 

A heartbreaking incident occurred on April 12, 2025, at approximately 16:30 hours in the Esibomvu area of Esigodini. A 4-year-old girl and a 2-year-old boy tragically lost their lives in a fire that ravaged the bedroom hut they were sleeping in.

According to reports, the children’s mother had locked the bedroom door from the outside before leaving for the Esibomvu Business Centre. The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) is currently investigating the cause of the fire.

The ZRP urges citizens to exercise extreme caution and vigilance, especially regarding fire safety. Parents and guardians are reminded to prioritize the safety and well-being of their children.

The community is shocked and saddened by this tragic event, and our thoughts are with the bereaved family.

In light of this incident, citizens are advised to:

– Ensure proper fire safety measures in their homes
– Keep children under close supervision at all times
– Be cautious with open flames and electrical appliances
– Have functional fire extinguishers or emergency plans in place
