Tragedy Strikes at Biki Biki Dam: 73-Year-Old Woman Loses Life to Crocodile Attack

A devastating incident has shaken the community in Insiza South District, Matabeleland South Province. A 73-year-old woman, Christine Ndlovu, was tragically killed in a crocodile attack at Biki Biki Dam on May 2 around 4:30 pm.

According to eyewitnesses, Ndlovu was dragged into the water by a crocodile while near the dam. A nearby fisherman heard her screams and attempted to intervene, striking the crocodile with a log three times. Unfortunately, the crocodile did not release its grip, and Ndlovu was pulled into the water.

The police have confirmed the incident and are working to locate both the victim’s body and the crocodile. Matabeleland South Acting Police Spokesperson, Assistant Inspector Stanford Mguni, urges people to exercise caution when approaching water bodies suspected to be infested with crocodiles.

This incident has raised concerns among residents, as it is not the first crocodile attack reported at the dam. Zimbabwe Parks and Wildlife officials are on the scene, working to locate Ndlovu’s body and mitigate the situation.

The community is advised to be vigilant and avoid areas known to be inhabited by crocodiles. The loss of life is a stark reminder of the dangers posed by wildlife, and authorities are working to ensure public safety.
