Eleven school kids, aged 13 to 17, tried to sweeten their day by allegedly snagging some sugarcane from Green Fuel’s fields—but instead, they got a bitter surprise. The overenthusiastic security guards at this ethanol empire decided to turn into cane-cracking vigilantes, giving the youngsters a whupping worthy of a soap opera cliffhanger.

Now, the pint-sized plaintiffs and their parents have called in the big legal guns—human rights heroes @ttsigz and Peggy Tavagadza of ZLHRLawyers—who have slapped Green Fuel and its cane-crazed sentries with a lawsuit demanding a cool $110,000 in damages. That’s roughly $10,000 per bruised behind and a heap of dignity to be restored.

The drama unfolded on a seemingly innocent stroll home from Katanga Secondary School in Chipinge, Manicaland province, where security guards Makina Ngwenya, Benjamin Dube, and Munorwei Gomondera accused the kids of pilfering sugarcane. Their response? Ordering the kids to hit the deck belly-down and administering a switch-powered lashing that left the kids sore, shocked, and trending for all the wrong reasons—thanks to Gomondera’s viral video handiwork.

Lawyers Sigauke and Tavagadza painted a grim picture of swollen backsides, hobbling steps, emotional trauma, and public humiliation that turned these young sugarcane bandits into unwilling social media stars. They argue the assault was not just a cane-tastrophe but a grave violation of youthful dignity and bodily integrity.

The legal eagles want the court to order the ethanol giant and its cane cops to cough up the cash, issue a public mea culpa, and broadcast their apology far and wide—from newspapers to community radio, social media, and company notice boards—making sure everyone in Manicaland hears that such sugarcane savagery is officially off the menu.

In short: the kids want justice served sweeter than any stolen stalk, proving that when it comes to rights and respect, even a little sugarcane isn’t worth a big beating!
