Nyokayemabhunu (Wellington Masiwa)’s Case Postponed

The hearing for Wellington Masiwa, also known as Nyokayemabhunu, has been rescheduled to 10 September 2025.

The delay occurred after the prosecution informed the court that they were not prepared to continue with the case.

Masiwa, who has been detained since his arrest on 13 April, is facing allegations related to breaches of South Africa’s immigration regulations.

At his latest appearance in Randburg Magistrates’ Court, he was formally charged under Section 49(1) of the Immigration Act for being in the country without a valid visa or permit.

The court ordered that he remain in custody until the new date set for his trial on 10 September 2025.
