Afro-pop star Ngoni Kambarami, once a household name in Zimbabwe’s music scene with hits like “Wakaenda,” has made a surprising career change after relocating to the United Kingdom. Known for his soulful voice and memorable melodies in the early 2000s, Kambarami has now embraced a very different lifestyle , as a truck driver.

In a heartfelt interview, Kambarami explained that his decision to leave the music industry was motivated by the need to provide for his family and secure a stable future abroad. “It wasn’t easy,” he said. “But sometimes, you have to make tough choices. This is what responsibility looks like.”

Though he has stepped away from the stage, the artist continues to nurture his passion for music by writing and recording in his spare time. He expressed hope to reconnect with his fans and possibly return to performing when the time feels right.

Kambarami’s journey resonates deeply with many in the diaspora, symbolizing humility, resilience, and the willingness to start over in pursuit of a better life.
