Harare Court Grants Protection Order in High-Profile Abuse Case

The Harare Civil Court has granted a protection order to Beauty Katanha, a woman who accused her husband, retired soldier Goodwill Katanha, of physical abuse. The order aims to protect her from further harassment or abuse.

According to court documents, the couple’s marital issues stem from an incident where Beauty Katanha allegedly caught her husband in a compromising position with their housemaid. She claims that her husband has become increasingly abusive, resorting to threats, intimidation, and physical violence to keep her silent about what she witnessed.

Beauty Katanha also alleges that her husband has been squandering money on other women and has turned their children against her. She claims that she has been the primary provider for the family for the past decade.

Goodwill Katanha vehemently denies all allegations, claiming that his wife’s accusations are fabricated to tarnish his reputation. He alleges that his wife had a boyfriend in Mozambique, where she lived for a year, and that he had abstained from sexual relations with her.

After hearing both sides, Magistrate Johanna Mukwesha granted the protection order, citing the need to protect Beauty Katanha from further abuse. The court’s decision marks a significant step in the case, but the underlying issues of alleged infidelity and marital discord remain unresolved.
