The Zimbabwe Republic Police has arrested Anymore Zvitsva (32), a man who had been the subject of an intensive manhunt in Guruve, Mashonaland Central, over a series of serious violent crime allegations.
Zvitsva, also known as Modho, was apprehended on Saturday, 3 January 2026, after a joint operation by the Zimbabwe Republic Police and the Zimbabwe National Army traced him to a garden where he was hiding.
According to national police spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi, the suspect was shot in the left leg during the arrest and was immediately taken to a local hospital, where he is receiving medical attention under police guard.
“The suspect was shot on the left leg by a joint team from the Zimbabwe Republic Police and the Zimbabwe National Army while hiding in a garden. He is currently receiving medical treatment,” said Commissioner Nyathi.
Police said Zvitsva faces allegations including murder, attempted murder and rape, although full details of the charges and his court appearance will be released later.
Commissioner Nyathi praised the Guruve community and the wider public for providing information that helped security forces track down the suspect.
The arrest brings a sense of relief to residents who had been living in fear following a series of violent incidents in the area.
