In a saga that could only be described as a domestic soap opera meets courtroom drama, Ivy Madzamba of Waterfalls, Harare, has heroically wrestled back control of her own living room from the clutches of her son’s girlfriend, Jane Amadi — who apparently believed that moving in without permission was a perfectly reasonable way to claim real estate rights.
Ivy, the rightful queen of her castle, declared to the Harare Civil Court, “She is living in my house without my consent. When my son is away, she brings boyfriends home like it’s a nightclub. I cannot accept this.” Clearly, Ivy’s home was not the latest hotspot for random rendezvous
Jane, armed with the mighty shield of “I have a baby with your son,” argued that this gave her the magical power to squat indefinitely. But Ivy, wielding the sword of property law, reminded everyone that no baby, no matter how adorable, can rewrite the sacred scrolls of ownership.
The courtroom became a battlefield of insults and accusations, with Jane blaming Ivy for her son’s alleged neglect of their eight-month-old baby, while Ivy accused Jane of turning her home into a chaotic love nest. The judge, presumably tired of the drama, issued a protection order banning Jane from insults, assaults, and unauthorized boyfriend parties, and ordered her to vacate the premises immediately.
Thus, peace was restored to the realm of Waterfalls, and Ivy reclaimed her throne.
