Double Murder in Mphoeng: Two Men Sentenced to 40 Years

The High Court in Bulawayo has handed down a significant sentence to two men convicted of a brutal double murder in the Mphoeng village near Plumtree. Modiri Dube (27) and Methuli Ncube (28) were sentenced to 40 years imprisonment each for the gruesome killings of Milton Moyo (25) and Bhekinkosi Ncube (24) in October 2023.

The incident occurred on the night of October 31, 2023, when Dube, Ncube, and their accomplice Lucky Mpofu, who is still at large, lured the victims to Mpofu’s homestead after a night of drinking at Manyondo Bar. The pair allegedly attacked Moyo with an unknown object, causing his instant death, and later killed Ncube with a brick and a stitching needle.

The bodies were disposed of in a village well, where they were discovered days later due to the strong stench of rotting flesh and unusual taste of the water. Police investigations led to the arrest of Dube and Ncube.

The court convicted Dube and Ncube on two counts of murder, sentencing them to 20 years imprisonment for each count, totaling 40 years each. The case highlights the importance of justice being served in the community.
