Cold-Blooded Killing: Family Demands Justice for Ex-Police Officer

The family of Stanlake Ipela, a former police officer shot dead by Zezani police in Beitbridge, is outraged and demanding justice. Ipela’s family believes he was murdered in cold blood and is calling for the arrest of the officers involved.

Ipela was shot in the back with a powerful gun, causing severe injuries, including a blown-off face and brain matter splattered in the car. The police claim he refused to stop at a roadblock, but the family disputes this account, questioning the presence of a roadblock on a rural road.

The family has raised several questions about the incident, including:

– Why was Ipela shot instead of being disabled?
– Why did the officers not catch or harm anyone else in the minibus?
– Why has it taken police so long to communicate with the people who were with Ipela?

This is not the first time police have been accused of excessive force in the area. In 2021, Abel Gumbo, a tout, was gunned down by police under unclear circumstances. The family of Ipela is determined to get justice and has written a strongly-worded letter to the police, demanding answers and accountability.

The family is seeking answers and justice for Ipela’s death, and their letter has been copied to the Commissioner of Police and the Minister of Home Affairs. The case highlights the need for police accountability and transparency in Zimbabwe.
