Chris Brown denied bail

Chris Brown, the American R&B singer, has been denied bail by a Manchester judge and will remain in custody until his next hearing on June 13. He faces charges of grievous bodily harm with intent related to an alleged attack at Tape nightclub in London on February 19, 2023. According to reports, Brown allegedly attacked music producer Abraham Diaw with a tequila bottle, hitting him multiple times, and then proceeded to punch and kick him. The prosecutor, Hannah Nicholls, described the incident as “an unprovoked attack with a weapon in a nightclub full of people”.

Brown was arrested on May 15 at the Lowry Hotel in Manchester by detectives from the Metropolitan Police. During his court appearance at Manchester Magistrates’ Court, Judge Joanne Hirst denied his bail request, citing the seriousness of the charges and potential flight risk. The case has been transferred to Southwark Crown Court in London, where Brown is scheduled to appear on June 13 for a plea and trial preparation hearing.

This development may impact Brown’s upcoming tour, “Breezy Bowl XX,” which is set to begin in the Netherlands on June 8. Brown is also scheduled to perform at Manchester’s Co-op Live Arena on June 15, just two days after his court hearing. Given the timing, it’s unclear how this situation will affect his upcoming shows.
