Chirumanzu Man Sentenced to 16 Years for Child S3xual Assault in Gweru

A 25-year-old man from Chirumanzu has been sentenced to 16 years in prison after being found guilty of sodomizing a seven-year-old boy. The Gweru Regional Court delivered the verdict following an attack that occurred on August 14, 2025, when the child was collecting vegetables at the man’s home.

The young victim courageously reported the assault to his grandmother, which led to the swift arrest and prosecution of the accused. The case has drawn attention to the importance of child protection and community vigilance against such heinous crimes.

In response, the National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe (NPAZ) has called on parents and guardians to closely supervise their children and avoid sending them alone to unfamiliar homes, emphasizing the critical need for safety measures to protect vulnerable children from abuse.
