Bulawayo Police on High Alert for Armed Robber

The Bulawayo police are hot on the trail of three armed robbers who made off with a stash of cash, leaving a motorist shaken and injured in the process. The daring heist occurred on Sunday, August 10, at around 6:45 PM, outside a popular food outlet at the intersection of Fife Street and 12th Avenue.

According to eyewitnesses, the victim, a 33-year-old man from Pelandaba West, had parked his white Nissan Note outside the food outlet when three unknown men armed with a pistol approached him. One of the suspects attempted to forcefully open the driver’s side door, but it was locked from the inside. Undeterred, the attacker smashed the window and fired four shots, injuring the victim on the palm of his right hand.

The victim fled the scene on foot, abandoning his black bag containing US$4,000 and R60,000 in cash. The robbers snatched the loot and made a swift getaway, leaving the victim to report the incident to the police.

Inspector Nomalanga Msebele, spokesperson for the Bulawayo police, urged members of the public to exercise caution when carrying large sums of money, as it makes them vulnerable to robbery. She appealed to anyone with information that may lead to the arrest of the suspects to come forward and report to the nearest police station.

As the police investigation continues, residents are advised to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the authorities. With the police hot on their heels, the suspects may soon find themselves behind bars.
