A devastating incident occurred at Gatche Gatche fishing camp on Lake Kariba when a hippopotamus attacked a boat carrying two fishermen. The boat capsized, and both men tragically drowned. Unfortunately, their bodies are still missing, and a search operation is currently underway.

According to reports, the incident happened on April 25, 2025. Zimbabwe Republic Police and Zimparks officials were notified, and a team was dispatched to the scene. The police’s Sub Aqua unit is working to locate the missing bodies.
