Buffalo Attack Mistaken for Goblin Mischief

In a shocking turn of events, a 55-year-old woman from Tsholotsho, Matabeleland North Province, was brutally killed by a buffalo last Tuesday. Gladys Nkomo, a resident of Mpanidziba Village, was on her way to her field when she encountered the enraged animal hidden in a thicket. The attack was swift and merciless, leaving Nkomo with severe injuries, including a swollen neck.

Villagers searched for Nkomo, finding one of her tennis shoes stuck in a tree while her unconscious body lay some distance away. Family members initially believed goblins were responsible and attempted traditional remedies, but sadly, Nkomo succumbed to her injuries at home.

The incident has sent shockwaves through the community, with many expressing concern about human-wildlife conflict. Local authorities have tracked and killed the buffalo, urging villagers to report wildlife sightings promptly.

Tsholotsho Rural District Council CEO Nkululeko Sibanda emphasized the importance of coexisting with wildlife, warning against provoking or chasing away wild animals. The council will cover funeral expenses, as the community mourns the loss of Nkomo.
