Zimbabwean Radiology Student in India Dies After Brutal Attack

Ziweya Leeroy, a 22-year-old Zimbabwean radiology student at Guru Kashi University in India, tragically passed away eight days after being viciously assaulted following an altercation with a university security guard.

The attack occurred on August 13, when Leeroy was ambushed and severely beaten by the guard along with several accomplices, resulting in critical head injuries. He later succumbed to his wounds at AIIMS Bathinda hospital. Authorities have detained seven individuals in connection with the incident and are actively searching for two more suspects, with charges recently elevated to murder.

This incident has sparked alarm among the international student community, while Zimbabweans both in India and back home mourn the loss of the young student. Arrangements are being made to return his body to Zimbabwe for burial.
