Shocking Allegations of Gang Rape at Masasi High School Raise Concerns Over School Safety and Justice

 by  Bridget  Mukwena

A disturbing incident has come to light involving a 16-year-old O-Level girl from Masasi High School who was allegedly gang raped by two male students on their way to a zonal ball games gala during the second term. A video circulating among the student body suggests the girl may have been drugged, though some learners, whose identities remain confidential, claim she willingly participated in the act to obtain money for the event.

The case, reportedly an open secret among students, has sparked outrage as it appears to have been swept under the carpet by local authorities at Marange Police Post, certain school staff, and even the victim’s parents. The girl is said to have been traumatized not only by this incident but also by prior abuse involving a married man from the Chitsiku area, leaving her in a fragile socio-psychological state.

The two accused boys, identified as Dhaure and Mapuranga, are alleged to possess sensitive information regarding inappropriate relationships between some school staff and students. There are also unreported suspicions of abortions involving female students linked to staff members, which may explain the prolonged inaction since the incident occurred around June. Official reports were only filed on September 26.

May justice prevail for the sake of the girl child and the safety of all students at Masasi High School.
